BIO

Aífe Hopkins-Doyle (PhD) is a social psychologist and an Assistant Professor in the School of Psychology, University College Dublin. Her research examines how people perceive and evaluate social groups, how these perceptions influence attitudes and behaviour, why inaccurate stereotypes and perceptions of social groups persist, and what psychological processes allow them to resist change.

Her research focuses particularly on the psychology of gender and sexuality, including sexism, gender stereotypes, perceptions of gender roles, feminism and collective actions. Her work examines how these processes operate in interpersonal relationships, educational contexts, and public discourse, and how psychological knowledge can contribute to reducing prejudice and promoting greater equality.

Aífe is a co-founder of the Social Psychologists Researching Gender+ Network (SPRinG+ for short) a European network for social psychologists researching gender+ topics including sexism, gender stereotypes, gender-based violence and discrimination, gender roles, and gender identity. The + represents the network’s focus on intersectional perspectives, as well as cultural variation. The network was launched in 2023 and has since grown to over 250 members from nearly 30 different countries.
