BIO

I am a computational biochemist interested in how proteins function within the complex environments of the cell. My academic path began with a PhD in Chemistry at the Technical University of Munich under the supervision of Prof. Carlo Camilloni and Prof. Ville Kaila, followed by postdoctoral research in Sweden (Stockholm University, with Ville Kaila) and the United States (Michigan State University, with Michael Feig). In my previous work, I studied large molecular systems such as respiratory supercomplexes, bacterial microcompartments, and biomolecular condensates, while also developing new computational models to integrate experimental data (e.g., SAXS and solubility data) into atomistic and coarse-grained simulations to increase their accuracy and applicability. My goal is to uncover general principles of how molecular interactions and crowded environments regulate protein structure, dynamics, and function. My current research focuses on protein–dense membranes and their impact on protein activity.
