RESEARCH INTERESTS
Alexander Latinjak’s research interests center around self-talk, including the development of a comprehensive self-talk theory applicable to both sports and general psychology. He has co-edited the book Self-Talk in Sports (Routledge), contributing to a deeper understanding of how athletes use inner dialogue to enhance performance. Another key focus is the PsychMapping project, which involves the creation of the Knowledge Map of Sport and Exercise Psychology and the development of the PsychMapping exercise—a tool for psychological analysis and intervention. He has also co-authored the PsychMapping book, published by Routledge. Beyond self-talk, his research extends to topics such as emotions, motivation, career development (including dual careers for athletes), health behavior change, mind-wandering, and performance models. His work combines theoretical development with applied insights, aiming to optimize both athletic performance and mental well-being.
