BIO

Dr Anh Vu Vo (known as Vu) is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the School of Computer Science. Before joining UCD in 2019, Vu served as a Research Scientist at New York University's Center for Urban Science and Progress. His expertise is in high-scalability and high-performance algorithms for capture, storage, analysis, and integration of LiDAR and other urban spatial datasets. Vu is currently a technical lead of UrbanARK, a US-Ireland collaboration project which explores the use of high-resolution LiDAR technologies for urban flood risk assessment and communication. Anh Vu Vo received his PhD award from University College Dublin with a thesis on LiDAR data storage and processing. He also holds a Masters degree from the University of Melbourne in Australia and a Bachelors degree from HCMC University of Architecture in Vietnam. He is a regular reviewer for many major journals including the ISPRS Journal of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, ASCE Journal of Computing in Civil Engineering, ACM Transactions on Graphics, and Pattern Recognition Letters. Vu is the recipient of the First Prize in the 2015 IEEE GRSS Data Fusion Contest and the Australian Government's Endeavour Postgraduate Award.
