TEACHING INTERESTS

My modules are designed to stimulate self-guided learning, and to empower students to develop skills required to locate, internalise, and apply knowledge, and to draw independent conclusions. I balance direct instruction using slides, notes, and audio-visual material, with discussion, research assignments, and peer learning activities designed to facilitate active learning. In striving to be an effective teacher and to facilitate learning, I pursue innovative ways of delivering content and assessing learning. This includes the use of guest speakers from industry, journal club style lectures, and practical assessments in place of written exams.
