BIO
Brona Fullen is an Associate Professor in the UCD School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Sports Science. She holds a BSc Physiotherapy (UUJ), MSc Healthcare (Acupuncture), UCD, Diploma in University Teaching (UCD) and PhD (UCD) degrees. She is an expert in the clinical area of pain management. Her research areas of interest include the assessment and rehabilitation of people with chronic pain in a range of conditions including musculoskeletal dysfunction, obesity, and spinal cord injury. She has obtained research funding from the The European Union, Health Research Board, Health Service Executive, and the pharmaceutical industry. She has supervised MSc and PhD students to completion, and has presented her research at national and international meetings. Brona is a founder and Director of the UCD Centre for Translational Pain Research. Brona is a past President of the Irish Pain Society, and from 2020-2023 held the position of President of the European Pain Federation EFIC - the first Chartered Physiotherapist and the first female elected to this position in the organisations history.
