RESEARCH INTERESTS

Sport Injury surveillance in sport, identification of risk factors for injury, consequences of injury and preventative strategies. Main work in Gaelic Games as co-director and principal investigator of GAA National Injury Surveillance Database. This is currently in its 12th year of data collection, monitoring and measuring injury incidence at inter-county Gaelic football and hurling. This project is funded by the GAA Medical and Scientific Committee. Collaborators include John C Murphy, Mr Ger Ryan, Gearoid Devitt, Dr. Edwenia O' Malley, Dr. Mark Roe and Prof. Conor Gissane, St. Mary's University College, Twickenham. Collaboration with Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Council to deliver and test an exercise based health promotion programme in a local council gym setting funded by Healthy Ireland, Pobal. Population Health UCD Get in Gear programme in collaboration with Carmel Keane, UCD Sport, also UCD Active Campus Europe Programme.
