BIO

Dr. Cara Augustenborg is an Environmental Policy Fellow at University College Dublin and co-host of the 'Down To Earth' slot on Newstalk FM. She was appointed to the advisory councils of the Environmental Protection Agency and the National Dialogue for Climate Action by the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment and serves as an adviser to the Cool Planet Experience's Climate Champion programme. Dr. Augustenborg holds a Doctorate in Environmental Science and Engineering from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and completed her dissertation research in agri-environmental science as a Fulbright Scholar and Walsh Fellow at Ireland's Agriculture and Food Research Authority, Teagasc. She also holds a B.Sc. in Biochemistry from University of Washington and an M.Sc. in Environmental Health Sciences and Water Policy from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). From 2014-2017, she was Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Friends of the Earth Ireland. From 2017 until June 2019, she has served as Chairperson of the Executive Committee of Friends of the Earth Europe based in Brussels. She was also the first person in Ireland to join Al Gore's Climate Reality Programme in 2013.
