BIO

Dr Carita Bramhill is an Assistant Professor in General Nursing at University College Dublin (UCD). She also lectures on the postgraduate Systemic Psychotherapy programme in the UCD School of Medicine, contributing to the delivery of core elements of the professional training curriculum. Dr Bramhill's expertise spans chronic disease management and well-being, healthcare inequalities, trauma-informed care, and mixed-methods research.

Her clinical practice is informed by a biopsychosocial model that recognises the influence of the social determinants of health. Combining extensive clinical experience with Master's-level training in Epidemiology and Systemic Psychotherapy, she brings both practical expertise and academic insight to her work across nursing, psychotherapy, and clinical research. She has worked across public and private healthcare settings and has contributed to investigator-led and pharmaceutical-sponsored clinical trials.

Dr Bramhill has received several competitive research awards, including postgraduate funding from Research Ireland and PhD scholarships from Trinity College Dublin, including the Ussher fellowship, 1252 Award, and a PhD scholarship from the School of Nursing and Midwifery. These awards have supported her interdisciplinary research and international collaborations. She has published in the fields of chronic disease, healthcare access, and health inequalities, and has presented her research internationally at conferences and  expert panels.

She holds a PhD from Trinity College Dublin, where her doctoral research explored quality of life, healthcare access, and unmet needs among people living with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
