Carlos Esquerre Fernandez
Carlos Esquerre is a Research Engineer in the UCD School of Biosystems and Food Engineering. He works on a Dairy Processing Technology Centre funded project in collaboration with the Irish dairy industry. His main research interests are in application and development of chemometric algorithms for quality and process control, fingerprinting metabolites and spectral imaging analysis of foods. He was awarded a prestigious EU Marie Curie fellowship to develop optical imaging technologies to rapidly assess safety and quality of cereals at USDA-ARS Beltsville MD. He obtained a PhD in Biosystems Engineering from the University College Dublin in 2011. During his PhD research he investigated the use of chemometric analysis of near infrared spectroscopy and spectral imaging data for quality assessment. Previously he lectured at La Molina National Agrarian University (Peru). He obtained his MSc in Food Technology from Santiago de Chile University (Chile) and his BSc in Food Engineering from La Molina National Agrarian University.
