    The Examination

    With Brokentalkers Theatre Group, I co-devised an award-winning play 'The Examination' based on my research on the history of mental illness, addiction and medical treatment in prisons. It also drew on oral interviews with current prisoners in Mountjoy Prison Education Unit and PACE. It was first performed at Project Arts Theatre and axis Theatre in Dublin (Feb-April 2019); at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (Aug 2019); and at the Dublin Fringe Festival (Oct 2019). It was scheduled for Théâtre de le Ville, Paris (May 2020) and Athenaeum, Melbourne Festival, Australia (Aug 2020) (postponed due to Covid-19).

    Living Inside: Six Voices from the History of Irish Prison Reform

    The exhibition addressed a range of sensitive topics about life in Irish prisons, including suicide, self-harm, drugs, and the impact of HIV/AIDS on the prisoners in 1980s.

    The Trial

    With artist Dr Sinead McCann, I co-produced an arts installation 'The Trial', working directly with clients of The Bridge Project, Dublin (men recently released from prison). We used historical case studies to explore the men s personal histories of incarceration and mental health in adult and juvenile prisons.

    I co-devised 'Disorder Contained' in partnership with Talking Birds Theatre Company, Coventry, and Hilary Marland (University of Warwick). Disorder Contained was performed in Coventry, Dublin, Belfast and London in 2017.
