RESEARCH INTERESTS
Our distinctive research approach employs logic and draws upon existing knowledge in physics, mathematics, and chemistry to comprehend the mechanism behind the relationship between structure, function, and response. In the Laboratory of Theoretical and Applied Crop Ecophysiology, we carry out fundamental research to understand photosynthetic production, which is becoming increasingly threatened by environmental disturbances caused by climate change. Our focus is on the leaf level, where we integrate knowledge obtained at lower levels (such as intracellular, thylakoid, or molecular) and upscale it to the entire plant. Our research stands out for its integration of experiments and theory. We design experiments and experimental setups based on hypotheses and develop theory specifically for that experimental question, which is usually made available to the community through a coded mathematical model.
