BIO

I am a Royal Society – Science Foundation Ireland University Research Fellow working in the field of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics with substantial experience in teaching, research, outreach and administration. I completed my doctoral studies in Theoretical Physics in 2014 at Imperial College London and I have been carrying out research in the field of Gravity and the AdS/CFT correspondence since then at the University of Barcelona, Durham University, Trinity College and now at UCD.

I have achieved high-quality scientific output which has been published in peer-reviewed international journals and disseminated widely through invited talks. I have completed several academic visits, organised various seminar series and other scientific events and I have been serving the scientific community as a journal referee for several years now. My collaboration network extends internationally.

I have been awarded a number of very competitive, merit-based fellowships and awards for my postgraduate studies and for traveling as well as for postdoctoral research. In particular, I have received the extremely-competitive Marie-Curie Individual Fellowship (2019, €186 000) and the prestigious Royal Society - SFI University Research Fellowship (2021, €563 371), which is aimed at supporting future scientific leaders. I have also received the Royal Society Enhancement grant to hire an experienced postdoctoral researcher and funds from UCD Research & Innovation to support a PhD student.

I am very enthusiastic about public engagement. The highlights of my outreach experience include a public talk as part of the “Pint of Science” (Donegal 2022 and Barcelona 2017), the creation of a multi-language scientific poster exhibition called "Unravelling the Dark Universe" (in collaboration with ICCUB), and a poster campaign promoting equality, diversity and inclusion in Mathematical sciences. I also maintain this science blog "Letters from the Universe" and I engage regularly with pupils through school visits.
