RESEARCH INTERESTS

I'm fascinated by the regulation of fuel metabolism and its role in health and disease. We use a combination of molecular biology, isotope tracing and whole body physiology approaches in cells, mice, and humans to understand the pathogenesis and therapeutic resolution of obesity related complications such as type 2 diabetes and metabolic-dysfunction associated steatotic liver disease. Current projects in my lab center on the pathways linking nutrient overload with mitochondrial dysfunction and insulin resistance in skeletal muscle, liver, and adipose tissues.
