BIO
I am a Research Fellow in the School of Philosophy currently on secondment to SEAI (Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland) where I am investigating gender aspects of Ireland's clean energy transition. This project is about the role of disaggregated data in ensuring that we achieve a just energy transition for all as we move towards net-zero. This project is funded by an SFI Public Service Fellowship.
My recent post-doctoral research project - Gender Equity in the Irish Architecture Profession investigated why women leave architecture, gender and professional identity, as well as perceptions of, and attitudes towards gender equity in architecture. This project was funded by the Irish Research Council with the RIAI (Royal Institute of Architects Ireland).
As a (former) architect I am concerned with traversing the boundaries between the history of, and the practice of, architecture. My current research interests include the relationship between architectural representation and experience – especially photography, architectural pedagogy, gender and feminism in teaching and practice, and the role architecture and its methods can play in restorative justice. I am a member of the Open Heart City collective of academics concerned with the legacy of the Magdalene laundries in Ireland.
