BIO

Prior to her arrival to UCD, as Assoc. Professor, Dr. Dunican was a co-investigator in the US multi-centre Severe Asthma Research Program, investigating the molecular pathways that drive severe asthma. Her research focus is in understanding the mechanisms that contribute to the heterogeneity in clinical phenotypes and treatment response in asthma, in order to advance precision medicine approaches to management of asthma. In 2017, She was awarded a PhD based on her research and continues to perform translational research in Ireland.

 

Dr. Dunican is a consultant respiratory physician within the St. Vincent's Hospital Group. Her clinical interests include general respiratory medicine and chronic airways disease; in particular, the management of severe, uncontrolled, or exacerbation-prone asthma, pleural disease and pleural ultrasound; lung cancer; and endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS).
