Award winner of the best research project on Standards and Innovation ARETE H2020 (CEN/CENELEC 2022) an event that celebrates and acknowledges the important contribution of research and innovation to standardization. Awards winner 2022 ARETE has launched the new CEN Workshop on 'eXtended Reality (XR) for Learning and Performance Augmentation', which had its kick-off meeting in September 2022 under the stewardship of CEN/TC 353 ‘Technologies supporting education and learning processes’. CENELEC is responsible for European standardization in the area of electrical engineering.

StandICT.eu fellowship award 2022 supported from TRUST-IT European Commission. This award enabled for existing standards to be analyzed regarding their ability to support the concept of ethically aligned 3D educational systems and the need for XR Ethics educational content metadata has emerged. Within the different WGs that I have attended, the need for the standardization of ethics metadata in XR and Metaverse proven of immediate need and initiated submission and approval of PAR P7016.1.

I have received as a Chair the Bronze Athena SWAN Award for the School of Computer Science (December 2021). This was the second submission and the positive research culture was recognized in term of the significant progress that took place since 2019 in terms of the gender equality with focus on the enhanced school maternity leave policy (I initiated this policy based on personal experience for support needed in research funding post maternity leave) and the gender proofed workload model, to ensure the values and expectations in terms of a balanced workload from an EDI perspective. My leadership led to the advancement of the governance of EDI within my School, the recruitment of a full-time EDI administrator and change of mindset a male dominated workplace. This positive research culture had an impact of attracting more female research students that increased from 29% (2019) to 39% (2022).
