RESEARCH INTERESTS

My research is driven by the overarching vision of mitigating the effects of climate change by managing ecosystems for greenhouse gas and climate benefits. To understand how we can manage ecosystems to maximize the climate and greenhouse gas benefits, I study the effects of external disturbances on plant physiological responses and biosphere – atmosphere exchange of trace gases and energy, and the consequent impact on ecosystem services such as carbon sequestration, biodiversity, greenhouse gas balances, food or energy production, freshwater storage, and air quality.
