BIO

Eoin graduated in 2001 from UCD and worked for 15 months in mixed, mainly large animal practice in Dundrum, Co. Tipperary. Following this, he worked as intern in Large Animal Clinical Studies in UCD for 12 months, followed by a 3 year term as Large Animal Clinical Scholar in the University Veterinary Hospital. Eoin returned to large animal practice in 2007, working for Mulcair Veterinary Clinic in Tipperary and Limerick. In September 2010, he was appointed Resident in Bovine Health Management in UCD. He was appointed as Temporary Lecturer in Integrated Farm Animal Health in February 2012 and completed a Masters in Veterinary Medicine (MVM) degree through research into leptospirosis in Irish beef/suckler herds in June 2012. The specialist residency training programme culminated in examinations in July 2013, following which Eoin was successfully awarded with the Diploma of the European College of Bovine Health Management. Eoin has a keen interest in farm animal surgery, internal medicine and herd health. As a European specialist in bovine health management, Eoin works with the UCD Herd Health Team to provide a consultancy and referral service to veterinarians throughout the Republic of Ireland, as well as providing an on-farm herd health management service to farms affiliated to UCD. He provides undergraduate teaching in the veterinary medicine degree course in UCD, from first years to final years, as well as contributing to the teaching of veterinary nurses. Eoin is a lecturer in the highly regarded Certificate in Dairy Herd Health postgraduate course for farm animal vets and is a frequent speaker as national conferences and veterinary clinical society meetings throughout the country.
