BIO

I teach in Drama Studies in the School of English Drama & Film. I am the current Co-Head of Drama Studies, and director of the MA in Theatre Practice - a new UCD programme in partnership with the Gaiety School of Acting, Dublin. My research interests are contemporary Irish and German dance theatre, and Irish performance. I lecture at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and teach a number of practice-as-research modules. My background is in dance as choreographer and as performer. I was a founder member of Company Vivienne Newport, Theater am Turm, Frankfurt (Germany) and a member of Tanztheater Wuppertal (director, Pina Bausch). I most recently performed with Raimund Hogue (Germany) and for Liz Roche Company (Ireland). Most recent publications: The Contemporary Irish Theatre and Performance Studies Reader (edited with Eamonn Jordan) Carysfort Press, 2016, and 'On Peregrine Collaborations-Cindy Cummings' Choreography of Triúr Ban: Woman, Disorientation, DIsplacement' in Dance Matters, edited by Aoife McGrath & Emma Meehan, Palgrave, 2018.
