Fran is working on the Irish Research Council funded interdisciplinary project The Cultural Value of Coastlines with Professor John Brannigan, Professor Tasman Crowe and Dr David Cabana. The project is a collaboration between the School of English, Drama and Film and the Earth Institute at UCD. Fran completed her PhD research over the summer at the University of Exeter in the UK where she also worked as an Associate Lecturer in the school of Geography. Her doctoral research, The Creative Conundrum (2017) was a Collaborative Doctoral Award with the Dorset and East Devon World Heritage Site (the Jurassic Coast) exploring creativity and heritage in policy and practice. Fran's work combines institutional ethnographies with artistic practice. She especially enjoys engaging with heritage debates with a wide range of audiences. Most recently through an exhibition of artwork based on the archival research Tracing Coastlines (2014) and as a specialist researcher for ITV's Best Walks with a View television series (2015).
