Joined UCD School of Geology (now UCD School of Earth Sciences) in January 1993 as a Newman Scholar. Appointed to the full-time lecturing staff in 1999. Appointed Senior Lecturer in 2002. Appointed Associate Professor in 2006. Head of School of Geological Sciences for 4 years from 2007 to 2011. Head of School of Earth Sciences for 3 years from 2015-2018. Member Executive Management Committees of the SFI-funded iCRAG Research Centre (2015-2019) Member Executive Committee for ESIPP project (2015--present) Member of Board of the UCD Earth Institute (2010-present. Geochemist with broad interests in aqueous and low-temperature geochemistry, mineral weathering, isotope geology and U-series dating methods, palaeoclimatology, atmospheric processes and energy meteorology. Member of the Editorial Board for the international geochemistry journal Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta.
