TEACHING INTERESTS

Central to my teaching philosophy is 'learning to learn'. I seek to promote this goal by supporting and enhancing learner motivation. This is particularly important as the acquisition of a second language and the concomitant need to adopt a 'L2 identity' can have deep impact on learner self-image and confidence. Innovation and Leadership I am BA Programme Coordinator/ Deputy Associate Dean. I am chair of a cross-college working group and Head of Subject in German. I have served on committees at College and University level. I led the development and management of a successful and innovative degree programme (DN541). I co-chaired a national subject association (GSAI 2011-2014) and represented Irish Germanists at international level (Women in German Studies, European Heads of Germanist Associations).
