BIO
I am a Professor in the School of Archaeology, University College Dublin. I am currently (2016-present) Head of School having been appointed in 2002 to expand the School's practical teaching skills and provide a specialism in early prehistory. I am specialist in the Archaeology of Hunter-Gatherers, with my primary research mainly in NW Europe. I lead the UCD Hunter Gatherer Research Group (HGRG) and am honoured that UCD will host the next CHAGS meeting, the international Conference on Hunting and Gathering Societies in June 2021.. I am co-editor of Hunter Gatherer Research, the journal of the International Society for Hunter Gatherer Research, sharing that role with an Anthropologist, Louis Forline. I also co-direct a major field project in Glendalough. This collaborative project includes teaching, community archaeology, contributions to the management of the landscape and is providing new information about an iconic Irish landscape.
