BIO

BA (NUI), MA (Georgetown) PhD (NUI) MRAI. Associate Professor, Emeritus

My research interests lie mainly in normative political theory, particularly civic republican political thought and its application to issues of citizenship, immigration and diversity; justice and moral obligations, and ethics and public affairs. My more applied work includes collaboration on the EUDOCIT, now GLOBAL CIT observatory on citizenship since its inception in 2008, particularly in the area of birthright citizenship and the development of citizenship law indicators.

Elected member of the Royal Irish Academy, March 2014. IRCHSS Senior Research Fellow 2007-8.
