TEACHING ACTIVITIES
My teaching philosophy places students at the centre of the learning experience; promoting a collaborative and interactive learning process. I apply this philosophy by designing learning activities underpinned by self-determination theory that promote student autonomy and competence and encourage involvement with the aim being to motivate and inspire students to learn. This philosophy underpinned the curriculum redesign of the MSc in Sport Management which led to this programme being globally ranked in 2017, 2019 and 2020 (https://www.ucd.ie/newsandopinion/news/2019/july/25/sportsmanagementmscgloballyrankedamongstbestinclass/). I was the recipient of a University award for my approach to teaching and learning in 2017, and have been a University Fellow in Teaching and Academic Development, examining the use of of the virtual learning environment to promote students' metacognitive skills (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yi91l0N9dA )
