BIO
Klaus joined the School of Psychology at UCD as Full Professor of Affective, Behavioural and Cognitive (ABC) Neuroscience in February 2022. Before joining UCD, he was Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience (2013-2022) at Aston University’s School of Psychology and the Aston Institute of Health and Neurodevelopment (AIHN), having spent the previous seven years as lecturer and senior lecturer at the Centre for Cognitive Neuroimaging (CCNi) and the School of Psychology at the University of Glasgow.
Klaus was co-Director (for facilities) of AIHN, co-Director of the Aston Laboratory for Immersive Virtual Environments (ALIVE) at AIHN, head of the Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) lab at AIHN, and a member of the Magnetoencephalography (MEG) steering group at CCNI. His roles in the wider Research community include membership of the Editorial Boards for BMC Neuroscience and Frontiers in Human Neuroscience and membership of various Research Funding Panels, e.g. Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) and Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).
Klaus obtained his Dipl.- Psych. from Mannheim University (Germany) in 1995 (BSc + MSc equivalent) and also finished his PhD at Mannheim University (1999) while working at the Collaborative Research Centre "Situated Artificial Communicators" at Bielefeld University (Germany). He was then employed as research officer at the Wolfson Centre for Cognitive Neuroscience, University of Wales, Bangor and subsequently at the Magnetoencephalography (MEG) Laboratory at Duesseldorf University before returning to the UK as faculty staff and now settling in the Republic of Ireland as full professor.
