Lawrence has a PhD in Deepwater Sedimentology, 10 years of applied research experience and 7 years industry experience with petroleum exploration and production companies. Whilst with Saudi Aramco he worked on field development projects in the Arabian Gulf, including the Safaniya Field, the world's largest offshore oilfield. With Tullow Oil he worked on a variety of deepwater exploration and development projects, including the Jubilee and TEN fields, offshore Ghana. He teaches classes on Petroleum Exploration, Seismic interpretation, Industry Economics, Petroleum Systems and Petrel E&P Software. His current research focusses include turbidite stratigraphic traps, structure and stratigraphy of foreland deepwater basins and sediment transport capacity of flows on Earth and other planetary bodies.
