BIO
My research focusses on water treatment, particularly removing anthropogenic micropollutants like pharmaceuticals and PFAS. These pollutants impact water quality and pose a significant risk to public and environmental health. I collaborate with the water sector, utilising materials science and environmental chemistry to address this challenge.
My primary degree was a Diploma (Integrated Master) in Chemical Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece). I then moved to the University of Bath (UK) where I completed an MRes and a PhD in ozonation water treatment at the Centre for Sustainable Chemical Technologies. I also undertook a research internship at the Department of Environmental Health and Engineering of Johns Hopkins University (USA) before graduating in June 2021. After the PhD, I joined Cranfield University (UK) as a Research Fellow in Wastewater Treatment, where I worked on the National Chemical Investigations Programme studying the mechanisms of contaminant removal in different wastewater treatment processes. I then moved back to the University of Bath as a Research Associate within the ‘SynHiSel’ programme grant to work on improving the efficiency of membrane separations through the application of 3D printing. I joined UCD as an Ad Astra Fellow and Assistant Professor in September 2025.
