TEACHING ACTIVITIES

One of the key goals of my teaching is to encourage and facilitate the development of quantitative and analytical thinking, while focusing on the fascinating and accessible domain of language. Recognising patterns, organising data according to explicit parameters and analysing dynamic systems are skills that are highly transferable. Innovation and Leadership I designed and deliver all modules on Phonetics and Phonology that form core requirements for the BA and MA programmes. In addition I developed and deliver a popular module on Minority and Endangered Languages and co-developed and co-delivered a module on Language and Law. All are enhanced by IT supported possibilities and employ multi-mode assessment. I also serve as Head of Linguistics and have held a number of committee positions within the former School from its inception.
