Mary Catherine Lucey
Currently she is SSoL Head of Internationalisation (2017 to date) and Non Governmental Adviser to Competition and Consumer Protection Commission. Previous positions include SSoL Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programmes) (2014- 2017); Visiting Fellow at Hong Kong University (Spring 2017); Visiting Professor at Fordham University, New York (2006) and Ireland Canadian University Foundation Scholar (2005). After graduating in 1987 with a BCL (First Honours) (NUI) she was awarded an LLM by research(NUI). A graduate of King's Inns she was called to the Bar in 1991. Her doctoral thesis "The Interface between Competition Law and the Restraint of Trade Doctrine for Professionals:Understanding the evolution of problems and proposing solutions for courts in England and Wales" was awarded by the London School of Economics and Political Science. The Examiners included Professor Richard Whish. Her competitively awarded research grants include "New Foundations Award" awarded by Irish Research Council in 2017 for "Competition Law in Hong Kong and in Ireland: Superficially Similar but Deeply Different?" and UCD Seed Funding awarded for "Memoranda of Understanding as 'soft' law influencing national competition authorities in Ireland, Portugal and Greece. Identifying lessons from the process for the future."
