Mary Catherine Lucey
Head of Global Engagement at SSoL since 2017 and Non Governmental Adviser to Competition and Consumer Protection Commission. Her previous positions include Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programmes) (2014- 2017); Visiting Fellow at Hong Kong University (Spring 2017); Visiting Professor at Fordham University, New York (2006) and Ireland Canadian University Foundation Scholar (2005). After graduating with a BCL (First Honours) she gained an LLM by research and later was called to the Bar. Her doctoral thesis "The Interface between Competition Law and the Restraint of Trade Doctrine for Professionals:Understanding the evolution of problems and proposing solutions for courts in England and Wales" was awarded by the London School of Economics and Political Science. The Examiners included Professor Richard Whish. Her competitively awarded research grants include "New Foundations Award" awarded by Irish Research Council in 2017 for "Competition Law in Hong Kong and in Ireland: Superficially Similar but Deeply Different?" and UCD Seed Funding awarded for "Memoranda of Understanding as 'soft' law influencing national competition authorities in Ireland, Portugal and Greece. Identifying lessons from the process for the future."
