TEACHING ACTIVITIES
As a teacher, I am committed to empowering students to become reflective and engaged speakers, writers, readers, and listeners. To this end, I aim to create a classroom where each student understands the inherent worth of their own experiences, values the experiences of others, and makes thoughtful connections between them.
I will support students in making these connections by offering them with linguistically, philosophically, and culturally challenging texts, and providing spaces, both in class and online, to discuss, debate, and analyse these texts together as a community. Students are expected to engage with both primary and secondary sources, as well as classmates, and are free to focus their engagement on the texts and topics that are closest to their hearts.
Contributions to Scholarship of Teaching and Learning:
"Who ‘does’ inclusion? Using the Toolkit to Create Change from the Margins" in Kelly, A., Padden, L., & Fleming, B. (2023) Making Inclusive Higher Education a Reality Creating a University for All. Oxford: Routledge
"Prioritising ‘Plus-ones’: A UDL Teaching Planner Cheat Sheet" in Padden, L., Elliott, D., Tongue, J., & Hyland, S. (2023) Learning from UDL Leaders: UCD University for All Faculty Partner Case Studies. Dublin: UCD Access and Lifelong Learning.
