BIO
I graduated from University College Dublin in 2000. I started specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with the initial intention of using this for general practice training but loved working in the area so much that I continued. I trained in Dublin (Coombe, Rotunda and National Maternity), Cork (South Infirmary) and Limerick (Regional and Maternity) and received my CCST in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Ireland in 2011. During this time I also passed my membership examinations of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (MRCPI) and Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG, UK) in 2005.
I have been awarded master's degrees in Evidence Based Healthcare (University of Oxford) and Clinical Education (University of Galway). I graduated with a MD by research in Diabetes in Pregnancy from UCD. I recently completed a Masters in Patient Safety and Human Factors from the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland and a Diploma in Healthcare Simulation and Patient Safety from the University of Galway. I completed a fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine in Toronto (Mount Sinai Hospital and the University of Toronto), Canada and then returned to Ireland to my current post, as Associate Professor in University College Dublin and a consultant Obstetrician/Gynaecologist in the National Maternity Hospital. In 2025 I was promoted to Professor in recognition of my work in education, research and innovation since I started in post in UCD, and I am very grateful for this.
