Dr Ditroilo joined the School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Sports Science at the University College Dublin in October 2015 as a Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Science. Dr Ditroilo received a BA in Physical Education (1992) and a BSc in Biological Sciences (1999) at Urbino University (Italy) then an MSc in Sports Coaching & Training (2002) at Tor Vergata University (Rome, Italy). From 2003 to 2008 he has worked as a research assistant and laboratory technician within the Institute of Health and Physical Exercise, at Urbino University (Italy). In 2009 Dr Ditroilo moved to University College Dublin (Ireland) to conduct research on mechanical properties of the muscle-tendon unit and relationships with sport performance and ageing towards a PhD. in Health and Performance Science, which was completed in January 2012. In February 2012 he was appointed Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Biomechanics at the University of Hull in England, where he remained until September 2015. Dr Ditroilo has a true passion for athletics, which he did competitively in both the 100 and 200m events. He holds a level 3 Athletics Coach qualification.
