PERUKI Priority Setting Partnership Survey PERUKI (Paediatric Emergency Research UK and Ireland) is conducting a priority setting partnership (PSP) survey. The answers will help generate a list of the Top 10 questions that need to be answered within the area of children's emergency care. Children attend emergency departments with virtually any condition, including but not limited to medical, surgical, orthopaedic, and mental health concerns, so it is crucial to identify research priorities on how best to treat and care for them. The PSP will focus on children and young people (birth to 18 years) using emergency care services and is inclusive of all of the UK and Ireland. This list will be used by researchers and funders to help improve the care provided to children and young people. The partnership is inviting the following groups: - Children and young people who have gone to the hospital to get emergency care. - Parents and carers who have taken a child to the hospital for emergency care. - Adults who remember going to the hospital for emergency care as a child or young person. - Healthcare professionals who provide emergency care in hospitals to children and young people.

This project aims to ensure children continue to receive timely access to emergency healthcare throughout the duration of COVID-19. The repurposing of health system resources to tackle the challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic, together with an apparent reluctance by some parents to access healthcare for their children at this time, may lead to a dramatic decrease in ED attendance by paediatric patients. A delay in seeking healthcare, particularly for children with chronic complex conditions [8], may result in further deterioration in an illness and ultimately lead to hospital admissions which could be avoided with timely access to healthcare. Avoiding unnecessary admissions to hospital is critical at a time when resources in the health system are severely limited. As the pandemic unfolds, assessment of changes in ED attendance and capturing the experience of parents will provide pertinent information to help identify unmet need and to identify those at risk. This study also includes data gathering from ED clinical staff to inform the interpretation of findings
