ProfessorMichael Gilchrist

I endeavour to provide all my students with a lifelong appetite for learning, research and scholarship. My teaching philosophy is research-led and I expose my undergraduate students to the latest research challenges as faced by postgraduate students in my laboratory by direct interactions between my research and my teaching activities. Innovation and Leadership I believe passionately in academics having appropriate balance between their research and teaching activities. This balance enhances my research and the training I can provide to my postgraduate students, many of whom have progressed to academic positions around the world. It also provides an enriched learning experience for my undergraduate students, with whom I have coauthored many research papers. I have been honoured with both institutional, national and international awards for my teaching and my research.
