BIO

Dr Michael Rush the Deputy Associate Dean with responsibility for the Bachelor of Social Science (BSocSC) in Social Policy and Sociology at University College Dublin. He is a full member of the International Network on Leave Policies and Research and provides annual country reports on the Republic of Ireland (http://www.leavenetwork.org). He is also a Board Member-at-Large of the Family Research Committee (RC06) of the International Sociological Association (ISA) and organised the RC06 Annual Seminar in Dublin 2016. Published works include ‘Theorising Fatherhood, Welfare and the Decline of Patriarchy in Japan’, International Review of Sociology, Revue Internationale de Sociologie 2016, Vol 25, 3. And Rush, M. (2016) Between Two Worlds of father Politics: USA or Sweden, Manchester University Press. Dr. Rush is the Editor of Chief of the Journal of Family Studies. His research areas are gender, welfare states, patriarchy, fatherhood and comparative social policy.
