TEACHING ACTIVITIES
Rem Collier is a software engineer and educator in the UCD School of Computer Science, where his teaching focuses on bridging foundational computing principles with applied software development. He maintains a high teaching load across undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with a core focus on helping students understand how to practically implement the engineering techniques they learn.
Over his career at UCD, his teaching portfolio has spanned introductory programming, formal foundations, web development, and distributed systems, alongside a 16-year run anchoring core Data Structures and Algorithms (2003–2019). In 2026, he introduced a new module on Agentic AI to complement his long-standing modules in Multi-Agent Systems. His commitment to curriculum development includes a decade spent co-directing the M.Sc. in Negotiated Learning, growing the annual intake to over 150 students. He also has a strong background in international education, having spent seven years teaching on the Joint UCD-Fudan degree, acting as the first Computer Science lecturer to teach at the Beijing-Dublin International College (BDIC), and supporting the final three years of the international degree programme in Sri Lanka.
