DrSairam Pamulaparthi Venkata

Dr. Sairam Pamulaparthi Venkata is a researcher in biomechanics working at the intersection of computational solid and fluid mechanics, applied mathematics, and biomedical engineering. His work combines constitutive modelling, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), finite element and finite volume methods, and experimental observations to investigate the behaviour of soft materials and biological systems. His research is focused on  finite strain theory, mechanical instabilities, fracture, tissue biomechanics, and cardiovascular haemodynamics, with current interests in patient-specific cardiac modelling, computational haemodynamics, and digital-twin technologies for healthcare.

He is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at University College Dublin (UCD), where he works on the ERC-funded XenoSim project, developing computational models of cardiac flow and valve dynamics to study haemodynamic differences between porcine and human hearts. Prior to joining UCD, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Visiting Scientist at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), where he developed constitutive models of mitral valve tissue and patient-specific heart-valve simulations. He previously completed a Marie Skłodowska-Curie PhD at the University of Galway on soft auxetic metamaterials and a Master’s degree in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics at Cornell University, where he studied self-healing hydrogels through NSF-funded research. He holds a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Hyderabad and has participated in research and academic exchange programmes at Purdue University, EPFL, and Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.
