As a teacher my goal is to engage students and facilitate student learning. My role is to create opportunities for active, experiential and collaborative learning. I do not assume that because I am teaching students are learning and so I use a variety of techniques to pay attention to what and how students are learning. Over my career I have introduced a range of evidence based enhancements to make the sociology curriculum at UCD and my modules more engaging (see O'Sullivan 2011 and 2015 for example). I enjoy working in partnership with students on projects and in recent work have benefited from their expertise.
