Shane's research area of interest is low energy building and the application of energy storage to the Passivhaus standard. He has authored numerous papers on the topic of passive houses, solar assisted space heating and inter- seasonal energy storage. Given the lack of post occupancy analysis (POA) data for low-energy dwellings in Ireland, Shane initiated a project to capture such data, culminating in the nZEB101 project. This exciting project monitors 101 low-energy dwellings, to facilitate evidence-based decision making, as Ireland embarks the rollout of low-energy nZEB dwellings.
