On completion of my BSc (Radiography) in UCD in 1999 I worked as both a Radiographer and Senior Radiographer in the Mater Misericordiae Hospital, Dublin and was involved in numerous clinical research projects (CT colongraphy/Vent studies) prior to commencing work in UCD as a Lecturer in Radiography & Diagnostic Imaging in 2007. I am currently the Head of Subject, Radiography in UCD having been the BSc Radiography Programme Director from 2015-2019. My primary research interests are in Computed Tomography, radiation dose and optimisation methods, areas in which I completed my PhD studies in 2013. I am a past president of the Irish Institute of Radiography and Radiation Therapy and remain active both nationally and in a European context via the European Federation of Radiographer Societies. I was on the programme planning committee (as co-chair of the Radiographers scientific subcommittee) of the European Congress of Radiology 2018 having been a subcommittee member during both 2016 and 2017. I am also the Chair of the programme planning committee for the International Society of Radiographers and Radiologic Technologists (ISRRT) world congress 2020, which will be hosted in Dublin in August 2020. I am currently a member of the European Society of Radiology radiation protection subcommittee and have also been part of two consortiums which completed projects for the European Commission, specifically the PiDRL (European diagnostic reference levels for paediatric imaging) and the BSS (2013/59/Euratom) Transposition project and am currently acting as a scientific advisor to the EUCLID project Highest Academic Qualification: Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from University College Dublin: 2013 Thesis: Radiation Dose Optimisation in Computed Tomography.
