I hold a BSc in Human Nutrition and Dietetics and a BSc degree in Food Science and Technology from the University of Zaragoza (Spain). In 2007, I joined the GENUD (Growth, Exercise, Nutrition and Development) research group, at the University of Zaragoza, where I completed my PhD thesis in Nutritional Epidemiology entitled 'Diet, lifestyle and cardiovascular disease risk factors in European children and adolescents' . After the completion of my PhD in January 2014, I took up a position as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Dietary Exposure Assessment group at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) which primarily involved the development of a standardised dietary assessment tool for use in Mexico and Brazil. I have participated in several large-scale international studies (HELENA, IDEFICS, Eurreca, iFamily, EuroDISH, DEDIPAC) funded by the European Commission. My research interest focuses on dietary intake assessment methodologies, early life nutrition and dietary behaviours, and obesity and cardiovascular risk factors during childhood and adolescence. I am the current manager of the National Nutrition Surveillance Centre in the UCD School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Sports Science. My research work at the National Nutrition Surveillance Centre focuses on the analysis of the WHO Childhood Obesity Surveillance Initiative data to monitor the progress of overweight and obesity among Irish children.
