Educated at Cork, Dublin, Louvain, and Oxford.
Obtained DPhil at the University of Oxford in December 2008 for the thesis 'Aristotle on the Matter of the Elements'.
Supervisors: Professor Michael Frede and Dr Ben Morison.
Examiners: Mr Edward Hussey (All Souls College, Oxford) and Professor Malcolm Schofield (St. John's College, Cambridge).
Awarded the University of Oxford's Conington Prize in 2010 for best dissertation in Ancient Philosophy.
