BIO

Anastasia obtained her PhD from the University of Konstanz, Germany in 2018, where she developed expertise in European Union governance and institutional analysis. She subsequently spent two years at the London School of Economics and Political Science as a Fellow in the Department of Government, contributing to modules on comparative politics. Following this, she joined the prestigious Horizon 2020 project "EUINACTION" as a postdoctoral researcher at Leiden University, the Netherlands, where she investigated the dynamics of European integration and institutional responsiveness.

Prior to joining UCD as an Ad Astra Fellow, Anastasia held a lectureship in Public Policy at Queen's University Belfast, where she taught courses on International Public policy, policy-making and policy analysis while developing her research portfolio.

Her research broadly focuses on three interconnected areas: policy responsiveness to public opinion across different institutional contexts, delegation dynamics between the EU and member states, and the complex relationship between policymaking effectiveness, efficiency, and politicization processes.

Anastasia's work combines quantitative and qualitative methodologies to examine how democratic institutions respond to citizen preferences and how delegation mechanisms shape policy outcomes. Her research has contributed to understanding the evolving nature of European governance, particularly regarding how institutional design affects both policy effectiveness and democratic accountability.
