RESEARCH INTERESTS
Annunziata’s main research interest is disaster management problems. In particular, her doctoral activity has aimed at identifying how optimization tools could improve mitigation and response operations within disaster management. The two research topics she dealt with during her PhD are: Critical Information Infrastructure Protection (i.e., how to plan resource allocation strategies so that communication networks can hedge against potential disruptions) and Evacuation Planning (i.e., shelter location and evacuation routing activities). Annunziata deployed bi-level programming and scenario-based mixed-integer programming to develop novel optimization models for the aforementioned research areas. She has also been looking into both exact (i.e., decomposition approaches) and heuristic solution methods. Her research interests also include gender analytics, green vehicle routing, and railway infrastructure protection.
