TEACHING ACTIVITIES

Conor has extensive teaching experience covering module and curriculum design, delivering lectures, leading seminar discussions, designing and grading assessments and exams, providing feedback to students, organising team-teaching, supervising research projects, populating virtual learning environments (e.g. Moodle, Blackboard and SiteBuilder), and providing students with pastoral support. Since he started lecturing, he has delivered a wide range of modules on all aspects of the history, art and archaeology of the eastern Mediterranean from Bronze Age through to late Roman times.

One of Conor's main pedagogical interests lies in creative and diverse assessment strategies that foster student engagement; for example, he introduced digital storytelling as a form of assessment on the ‘Hellenistic World’ module at the University of Warwick, which was recognised with a Digital Humanities Award in 2019. His supervision track record includes twenty-nine 10,000-word UG dissertations on topics from Greek and Hellenistic archaeology and history to Digital Humanities, co-supervision of three MA-by-Research projects, ten progress panels for doctoral candidates as well as chairing one PhD viva, and examining for two PhD projects. During his time at the University of Warwick, colleagues and students twice nominated him for a University of Warwick Award for Teaching Excellence, and students nominated him for a Student Union Transforming Education Award in 2021. In 2017 and 2019, he received Merit Pay Awards for Excellence in Performance and Contribution from the Vice Chancellor’s Advisory Group within the University of Warwick. Conor is a qualified Personal Tutor and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) in the UK.
