Assoc ProfessorDorota Piaskowska

Dr Dorota Piaskowska is an Associate Professor in Strategy and International Business at University College Dublin, Ireland. She holds a PhD from Tilburg University in the Netherlands and has been a visiting scholar at the Lee Kong Chian School of Business at Singapore Management University. 

Dorota's research examines how firms grow through scaling, interantionalisation, mergers and acquisitions, and alliances. Taking a multilevel approach, she has a particular interest in the role of institutions, top managers' experience, and learning in these processes. Her work has been published in leading academic outlets and featured in professional media. 

An award winning educator, Dorota teaches across all levels of higher education, using active and experiential learning approaches. She is co-author of the bestselling case study titled Ryanair: Flying Too Close to the Sun?, with Ciaran Heavey, which won The Case Centre’s Strategy and General Management Category Award in 2021.  She has taught in Finland, Hong Kong, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Singapore. Previously, she held academic leadership roles in UCD's Singapore and CEMS MSc in International Management programmes. She led the latter to a seventh place globally in the 2018 Financial Times Masters in Management ranking.

Dorota also served on the Board of the European International Business Academy and has been recognised for her leadership contributions to the Academy of Management. She currently serves on the editorial boards of International Business Review, where she won the 2025 Best Reviewer Award, International Journal of Management Reviews, Journal of World Business, and Management International Review.
