TEACHING ACTIVITIES
My approach to teaching is guided by the need to equip students with the practical skills of the professional record keeper and the theoretical knowledge to facilitate understanding of the principles underpinning this practice, with an emphasis on equity, inclusion and diversity. Since starting to work in School of History in 2005, I have been involved in developing a range of training programs in archives and records management. These include the masters and certificate programmes which I worked on with my former colleague Ailsa Holland. I introduced the PhD in archivistics programme in 2010. I have also sought to increase the programmes' collaboration with practitioners and have developed projects with national and local institutions to support this. I was delighted to receive a College of Arts and Humanities Teaching Excellence Award in 2020.
