ProfessorJorie Lagerwey

I am a television scholar with expertise in feminist criticism and critical race theory. My research focuses on American and British television in its contemporary form as a global, digital, multi-platform medium. I draw on an array of texts including not just television programs, but all of their related media from Twitter feeds to official network websites and publicity as well as stars' branded products. To understand how these texts function together and within contemporary culture, I mobilize feminist analysis, critical race studies, star studies, entertainment industry studies, cultural studies, and textual analysis.
